Day 2: Seven Sleepers Cave - Abdul Rahman bin Auf tomb - City Tour
After breakfast begin your pilgrimage by visiting the Cave of the Seven Sleepers (Ashab al Kahf) which is mentioned in a Sura in the Holy Qur'an. This is where a group of devout Christian youths sought refuge from prosecution by the tyrannical Roman Emperor Trajan for monotheism. To preserve them Allah put them to sleep. They awoke 309 lunar years later however by then Christianity was widespread so Allah put them to sleep for eternity in the cave. The Byzantine ruins and mosque nearby are accurately described in the Holy Qur'an.
We then drive to the tomb of the venerable companion Abdul Rahman bin Auf. He was one of the first eight people to accept Islam. A line of stones mark his burial site as one of the "Blessed Ten" who were promised paradise by Prophet Mohammad.
Back into the centre of Amman for a city tour including a visit to The Citadel, site of the oldest civilization in Amman, the old downtown area and finally to the King Abdullah Mosque for prayer. Return to your hotel.
Day 3: Mt Nebo - al-Karak - Petra
Travel south along the Kings' Highway to Mt Nebo. Here God permitted Prophet Moses to glimpse the Promised Land before dying. From the lookout you can see the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, Jerusalem Mountains and Jericho.
Continue along the Kings' Highway to al- Karak. The most significant and fiercest battle fought during Prophet Mohammad's (PBUH) lifetime was the Battle of Mutah (629 AD). It took the lives of his closest companions, martyred fighting against a combined Byzantine/Ghassanid army. In the town of Al Mazar Al Janubi, close to Kerak, are the tombs of the venerable companions Zaid bin Harithah, Ja'far bin Abi Talib, and Abdullah bin Ruwahah. Today you will visit these tombs before continuing along the Highway to Petra.
Day 4: Petra - Amman
This morning meet with your guide to undertake a 3-4 hour guided tour of the lost city of Petra. Walk through the Siq (chasm) until you finally emerge in front of The Treasury. Continue into the city of Petra to explore the Street of Facades, Royal Tombs, Roman Theatre, colonnaded street, Great Temple, Qasr al-Bint and the museum.
Early afternoon, meet at the hotel to collect your luggage before heading along the Desert Highway to Amman.
